Last summer's war showed the tremendous support of our community for the State of Israel. However, the war and recent events have also demonstrated the vulnerability of Israel's border communities, particularly those in the north and near the Gaza Strip. In coordination with local partners and municipalities, we will continue to provide critical resources to develop civil preparedness and assist the residents of these vulnerable communities.

UJA Federation will promote new directions in our Israel-based funding to address some of contemporary Israel's emerging challenges, particularly in the country's periphery. Through groundbreaking partnerships with Israeli philanthropists, city officials and volunteer organizations, UJA Federation will help develop new initiatives to promote strong local leadership, self-help organizational volunteerism, civic pride and economic independence.
